Cooking shows are very popular in Japan, but the most well-known Japanese cooking show in America is Iron Chef. This TV series originally aired from 1993 to 1999 in Japan, with a total of 309 episodes.

在日本，料理節目非常受歡迎，但美國最有名的日本料理節目就是鐵人料理。這部電視影集最初於1993至1999年之間在日本播出，共有309集。

Each episode featured a cooking battle that took place in a “kitchen stadium.” The four Iron Chefs were always the same. These four men were carefully chosen and each one was considered to be the best in Japan at one type of cuisine: Japanese, Chinese, French, and Italian. Four contestants, usually chefs from around the world, would battle against the iron chefs to make the best food.  

每一集播出一場料理大戰，在「廚房競技場」進行。四位鐵廚不變。這四位是仔細篩選後出線，每一位在日本都被視為料理的佼佼者：包括日式、中式、法式、義式料理。四位參賽者通常都是來自世界各地的大廚，會對抗四大鐵廚創作出最美味的佳餚。

Each episode featured a theme food, such as peaches, octopus, or oolong noodles. Viewers would watch as the chefs rushed to make dishes based on the theme food. If a contestant managed to beat one of the iron chefs, then he or she would achieve great fame.

Nearly 20 years later, the show still often airs on TV in America, and many countries, including America, the UK, Australia, and Thailand now have their own Iron Chef shows.
